Stump Evans

Paul "Stump" Evans (18 October 1904 – 29 August, 1928) was an American Jazz Saxophonist.

He played with many famous jazz musicians of the time including Jelly Roll Morton and Kid Ory on many different sizes of saxophone but is most famous for playing C melody saxophone with King Oliver in King Oliver's Jazz Band.

Stump Evans is a most underrated sax player, and is heard at his best on the new orleans wa nderers discs with Dodds,and with Morton.His double tempo breaks point to where he might have gone but for his REALLY untimely aged 24.I read he died with TB.
